According to the fitness program, today was one of the more serious exercise days. So we headed up the local mountain and did some hard walking for about two hours.
After last night's rain and yet another thunderstorm it has actually cooled down to a much more reasonable 18 degrees or so.
SOMETHING OTHER THAN DOGS
On a different note altogether, watching the German news on TV in Waldkirch, it was interesting to hear that the Germans are groaning under the weight of ever increasing power costs as well. But here is the interesting bit. Over the last two years or so the base cost of purchasing power by the companies has reduced by about 20%. I cannot remember why. But, the buggers are not passing these savings onto the consumer. Are we surprised? Not only that, they are INCREASING the costs. That thought could do one's head in.
In the local Swiss newspaper I read an article that said that Marxism did not achieve its goal of destroying capitalism but that capitalism is doing that very nicely on its own by its over emphasis on unfettered growth. The author stated that the only way for us to survive and get a balance back into our world was to create wealth and redistribute it ethically. I wonder how that is to be achieved?
Apropos hot weather. In Dresden it was 40 degrees the other day. This seems unbelievable for that part of the world. In the Balkan states the fires are raging and in some parts nothing can be done because the area is full of mines. Oh boy, how stupid is the human race.
Due to lack of rain, in some areas up to 100% of their crops will fail and some rivers are reduced to a trickle. On that cheery note, good night.
