After the hard work Jochen did on the weekend, it was time to give him a slow day. So I took him for a very short walk early in the morning and then headed to Chur by bus on my own. As much as I LOVE being able to take Jochen almost everywhere, on occasion it is nice to be able to just saunter without having to consider him and his needs.
I came to understand very quickly that on any longer trip by public transport, not only do I have to ensure that he has pooped and piddled, so do I! I cannot leave Jochen sitting in the train whilst I decide to attend to the call of nature! It is not going to happen. I need to add that on the Intercity trains there are toilets on every carriage. But neither can I go on any public toilet when I have him with me as I am not sure whether he would be allowed in there and in any case, he wouldn't fit into the toilet with me. The mind boggles somewhat.
As some of my gear is unravelling a bit, I had to buy a new mouth piece for my hydration bladder, my day pack is wearing out (it is an old one) and I found a bigger one on special that may mean I won't have to take Elias' BIG backpack to Geneva in two weeks. I also bought a roll-up mattress for Jochen for Geneva when we camp there. So my meagre funds are now even more meagre.
I am about to take Jochen for another, slightly longer walk through the village. For some reason he loves to take that direction.
